It’s been a very long time since my last blog post. 2023 was a very strange and sometimes difficult year and perhaps 2024 will be a new start.
My pottery plan is to try and be more careful and less clumsy! The number of pieces of work I have damaged while transporting them from my work station to the kiln shelf or from my house to the studio and everywhere in between, doesn’t bear thinking about. So, more care and more bubblewrap will mean less breakages, fingers crossed.
My other pottery plan is to not be lazy when it comes to finishing and glazing – I can be a bit slap dash when at the end stages of my work. So, I will also be trying to take more care when I feel my piece is finished, for example when applying wax, colour and glaze. In the long run, this should mean I’m happier with more of my work when it finally emerges from the kiln.
