The natural world inspires my ceramics, particularly the coastline of Yorkshire. Certain flora and fauna regularly appear in my work. I focus on decorative art, painting and carving images that I love onto my clay objects.
I grew up in Whitby, spending hours on the beach collecting pebbles, sea glass, shells, and fossils. I enjoyed exploring rock pools and finding tiny crabs and fish. I spent a lot of time outdoors, drawn to greens and blues, which I guess makes sense.
I really like Japanese patterns and designs. I especially love the colors and gold accents in the fabric. Even though I’m not really into geometric designs, I do enjoy mandalas and henna patterns as well.
I’ve included some images that represent what inspires me. I hope you like them!
